What are Water Stop Seals & How they are placed?

PVC Water-Stops are extruded profiles manufactured using special Plastic compound that is resistant to ageing, chemicals, have high tensile strength, good elongation properties. They are very much helpful in keeping the concrete structure Watertight, thus by provide strength, stability & Life to Mega structures & Multi-storeyed Buildings.

Water Bars prevents Concrete Structure against any change in atmospheric temperature which cause contraction or extension of Concrete joints which can cause displacement of different concrete layers & could result in cracks in walls, also helps in retaining Structure in case of Geo-disturbances like earth quakes. These can cause leakage of Water from underground sources. WaterStop when places at the time of construction makes the joints watertight thus doesn't allow any seepage of Water.

Installation of Water Stoppers

Water-stopper are available in a variety of forms, which differ in width, thickness & design. their selection should be bases on the understanding of soil, climatic conditions, geographic conditions, under ground Water Label, salinity of water in the Area. an advice from a certified Architect or civil engineer is always recommended for this purpose.

For example. At places, sudden temperature change due to climatic conditions is more often, causes expansion & contraction of structure. At these places Dumbbell type Waterstops are recommended.

How Waterbar are installed:- Half part is embedded in concrete (up to central bulb) while the other half hanging outside which is also embedded on next turn with proper alignment.

How to joints two ends of Water stops

Heat Jointing of PVC Water Stop

The the ends of PVC Water Stops are joints together to form a single watertight strip, this can be done by two ways-

1. The two ends are heated using plastic heater till both the ends get softer & slightly melted then force is applied at both ends, this enables both the ends joint together.
2. Two different Rolls are pasted together using synthetic Rubber Adhesive radially available in market.
